Those monkeys are smart to eat lots of bananas—they can help us avoid lots of different diseases and keep our heart and digestive system healthy! They are also high in fiber, important minerals, and antioxidants, which help to keep us happy and healthy!
Green Monkey Smoothie (makes enough for 2-3 people)
2 cups of baby spinach
1 Tablespoon of flaxseeds
1/2 cup frozen green grapes
1/2 cup mango
1/2 cup pineapple
1 cup water
Child: Peel the clementines.
Adult: If you are using a regular blender, blend the spinach, flaxseeds, clementines and water first. Slowly add in the frozen fruit so as not to damage your blender. Portion into two cups and enjoy!
4 whole-grain hot dog buns
1-2 Tablespoons of sunflower seed butter (or a nut butter)
Low-sugar strawberry preserves
Lightly toast the hot dog buns if desired. Let your child help to peel the bananas and place them in the buns. Top with the nut or seed butter and fruit preserves and have fun eating these healthy "dogs!"
